Holiday company Thomas Cook plans to cut 500 jobs to reduce costs by between £40m and £50m, blaming an uncertain UK outlook.

Former staff at travel agent Thomas Cook who were occupying the company's Dublin shop after being made redundant were arrested by police this morning.
