The cost of protecting intellectual property has been cut by 40 per cent for businesses who apply for trademark protection online.

The Trade Marks and Designs Registration Offi ce of the European Union (OHIM) has cut the cost of a community trade mark, which legally protects a brand or company logo in every EU country, to around £830 as of 1 May in its second fee cut in five years.
