Small wonder

A new small claims service is being introduced at the Patents County Court to help small and mediumsized businesses protect their copyright, designs and trademarks.

At the moment, a lot of small companies fail to enforce their Intellectual Property (IP) rights because of the high costs involved. But the new process will limit fixed costs and award damages of up to £5,000 per case.

According to estimates, 150 firms a year will benefit from the service, providing an annual boost to UK business of £350,000.
