Deals of the Year – the shortlist

EN has announced the shortlist for its North West Deals of the Year Awards 2011.

The Awards, which will be presented at a ceremony at the Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, on 31 March 2011, honour the best deals to complete during the previous year, and the advisors that helped them on their way.

The Awards ceremony will be hosted by former MP-turned-entertainer Lembit Opik and the keynote speech will be given by jewellery entrepreneur Gerald Ratner.

This year’s shortlist consists of:

Best Deal £10 million to £50 million
Expansys – acquisition of Data Select Network Services and PJ Media
Klarius – acquisition of Quinton Hazell
NCC – acquisition of iSEC Partners

Best Deal over £50 million
Acorn Care and Education – sale to Teachers’ Private Capital
British Salt – sale to Brunner Mond
Peel Holdings – sale of majority stake in Peel Airports to Vancouver Airport Services
Travel Jigsaw – sale to Priceline

This year’s ceremony will for the first time include a new category, “Outstanding achievement”, which recognises an individual who has, over the course of their career, made an extraordinary contribution to dealmaking in the North West.

The judging panel for this year’s awards consists of Darryl Cooke (founding partner, gunnercooke), James Dow (founder, Dow Schofield Watts,), Julie Meyer (BBC Online Dragon and founder, Ariadne Capital), Jeremy Roberts (founder, Living Ventures) and Stuart Anderson (editor, EN Magazine).
